Accessibility & Capital Improvements

Before the COVID-19 pandemic unfolded, the Portland Saint Sharbel Parish family undertook a comprehensive renovation project to modernize facilities and enhance accessibility. The sanctuary was revitalized with a fresh coat of paint, new carpeting, and the addition of elegant marble to the altar. Choir loft seating received an upgrade, and new tables and chairs were installed throughout the church. A crucial improvement was the addition of a lift, now enabling individuals with mobility challenges to reach the second-floor sanctuary with ease. These updates have not only rejuvenated the church’s appearance but have also made it a more welcoming space for all.

The success of this renovation owes much to the generous lead gift from the Fakhoury family; alongside significant contributions from parish founders Bonnie and Lee Rask, the family of Dr. Thomas Rask, and Elie and Nayla Kassab, in addition to the numerous other donors whose support was invaluable. We extend our heartfelt gratitude not only for the financial gifts but also for the expertise and dedication of our contractors, Michael Lahti and Darin Oreste. For those requiring elevator lift access, the entrance is conveniently located beneath the stairs on the right side of the church.
